What is an IP Stresser?

An IP Stresser is a online paid DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack service that is used to launch short, effective DDoS attacks. IP Stressers typically cost from $10 to $300, depending on your maximum flood length and plan length. Flood length typically ranges from 900 seconds to 7200 seconds.

What is a DDoS Attack?

A DDoS attack is an overflow of incoming data to a connection. As long as the incoming traffic is larger than the connections download speed, the connection will be taken offline. Modern day DDoS attacks employ advanced IP header modification techniques in order to trick vulnerable servers into sending large amounts of data to a target connection, allowing for massive 10Gbps+ floods from some professional IP Stressers.

Is owning an IP Stresser legal?

IP Stressers are completely legal to own in the United States and Canada, however you may want to consult your own countries laws. IP Stresser legality may be dependent on how you use your IP stresser.

How can I protect myself from incoming DDoS attacks?

Sadly, you cannot protect your own home connection from DDoS attacks. However, you can hide your IP using a DDoS protected VPN or proxy. If you use a VPN, any potential DDoSer will not be able to find your real IP address. If said DDoSer already has your IP address, you can likely call your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and have them change it at no cost.
